Spring Sailing

Spring has sprung in the Netherlands, and after a long hiatus Detour is finally sailing again! We're somewhat early bloomers; boats are still being launched into the water for the season and blustery weather is quite chilly despite the sunshine inviting us outside. But we're making moves and it feels great to get our plans underway for yet another adventurous year!
Goodbye, Amsterdam!

We've landed in the town of Andijk where Detour will be fitted with new standing rigging, in addition the the new running rigging that Brian and I replaced this winter. Meanwhile, we'll be stocking the boat with all the food, alcohol, stroopwafels, and hagelslag that we can possibly fit! We will also be route planning for our Netherlands exit via the Wadden Sea. We're headed north for summer cruising along the coast of Norway.

So exciting to hear from Steve & Marja!! We're going to take a peek at Denmark en-route to Norway, very exciting NEW territory. We'll join some fellow OCC'ers for a bit of cruising northward along the NO coast. Loving our aluminum boat :) Hope you are enjoying Chile. -

Hey, guys, great to see where you are now and your plans. Fantastic. We are currently slogging our way south down the coast of Chile on Motu, hoping to winter in Valdivia. -

Put on your Norway list to see the folk dance called the Hambo. I spent many a folkdance evening trying to learn it and finally did. Once you learn it you will not forget it. The music is great too! It will probably turn up at a festival. Enjoy your new adventure!!! -

Glad to see you back to sailing. If you haven't connected with him yet, there's a Danish sailor who is refitting a sailboat to cruise on, that might make a good contact for you on the way to Norway. You could probably contact him through https://www.youtube.com/user/madsdahlke/featured. Very interesting guy, makes good DIY videos on refitting.
